Result Live captions in 62 languages Cloudflare costs about $8 a month

Here's how it works:
It turns the live stream's audio into text, translates it, and shows it on screen.
Listening: a small relay app on my broadcast Mac pulls the audio from the live YouTube stream. It reads the current stream IDs from my channel config file, so it follows restarts on its own.
Transcribing: it sends that audio in short chunks to your Cloudflare worker, which runs speech recognition on Cloudflare's own AI. The worker works out the language from the words themselves, so Spanish or Portuguese songs get labelled correctly instead of being forced into English.
Translating: each line gets translated into whichever languages people are actually watching in, out of the 62 in the picker. That's why there's a 3 to 6 second "Loading translation…" pause when someone switches languages.
Showing: The live video player picks the lines up and shows them in the CC bar, and the language picker lets each viewer choose their own.
Backup: GrokBot's computer stays on standby as a backup and takes over automatically if Cloudflare stops responding.

What prompted it
The author wanted viewers of a live stream to read captions in their own language.
What Grok Bot did
- A relay app on the broadcast Mac pulls audio from the live YouTube stream, reading stream IDs from the channel config so it follows restarts on its own.
- The audio goes in short chunks to a Cloudflare worker, which runs speech recognition and works out the language from the words, so Spanish or Portuguese songs are labelled correctly.
- Each line is translated only into the languages viewers are actually watching in, out of the 62 in the picker.
- The live video player shows the lines in the CC bar, and each viewer picks their own language.
- If Cloudflare stops responding, Grok Bot's computer takes over automatically.

Switching languages brings a 3 to 6 second "Loading translation…" pause, because lines are only translated into languages someone is watching in.
