BotDidIt is run by an independent individual operator (“I”, “me”). This page explains what information the site handles. It describes the site as it works today, and separately what the planned forms would collect once they are switched on.
What the site collects today
- No accounts. There is no sign-up or login.
- Visit counts, without cookies. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn’t set cookies, doesn’t use local storage for this, and doesn’t build a profile of you or follow you across sites. It sees things like the page, the referring site, the browser type and the country, and Cloudflare reports them to me only as totals. There are no advertising scripts, and the site itself doesn’t set cookies.
- Language preference. If you use the language toggle in the header, the choice is stored in your browser’s localStorage under the key
botdidit-locale, only to remember EN / 中文. It is not sent to the server. - One third-party script, on case pages for X posts only. Those pages show the original post with X’s official embed (X’s
widgets.js), loaded once the post is near the screen, or only when you click if your device asks for reduced motion or data saving. When it loads, your browser connects to X, and X’s own privacy policy applies to what it receives; X may set its own cookies. The embed is requested with X’s “do not track” option. Every other page runs only the site’s own scripts. - No third-party fonts. The font is served from this site, not from a font service.
- Forms send nothing. The submit, claim and remove forms are a demo right now. What you type stays in your browser and is not sent or saved.
Links to X, x.ai and other sites take you to those sites. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Weekly email
The weekly email is run on beehiiv. The sign-up at the bottom of each page takes you to beehiiv, or shows beehiiv’s own form, and your browser connects to beehiiv, and to the spam checks beehiiv runs in its form, when it does. The form only loads once you scroll near it. If you subscribe, your email address is stored by beehiiv and used only to send you that email. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and beehiiv’s own privacy policy applies to what it holds.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like most hosts, Cloudflare processes technical data about each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare’s own privacy policy applies to that data. I don’t keep separate server logs.
What the planned forms would collect
A real backend for the forms is being built. None of this is collected yet. Once the forms are switched on, they would collect roughly the following. This list is to be confirmed and this page will be updated before it happens.
Submit a setup
- The link you send (an X post or an x.ai/bot template).
- An optional short note, up to 140 characters.
The plan is never to show who submitted a setup. Credit goes to the original author with a link to their post.
Claim a setup
- The BotDidIt page you are claiming.
- A one-time code, and either your template link or the link to an X post containing the code. That post or template is public and shows your handle.
Remove a setup
- The BotDidIt page you want removed.
- Whether you say you are the author (and, if so, the same proof as a claim).
- An optional reason you write.
Spam protection
The forms may use a bot check such as Cloudflare Turnstile. If they do, that service would process technical data from your browser to tell people from bots. To be confirmed.
How information would be used
Only to run the site: to check and list setups, confirm claims, handle removal requests, and keep out spam. Not for advertising, and not sold.
How long it would be kept will be set out here before the forms go live.
Your choices
If a setup you posted is listed, you can ask for it to be removed. To ask for a removal, for other questions about your information, or to ask what is held about you, contact me on X (@NobodyOrc on X).
Changes
I will update this page when the site changes what it collects, and change the “Last updated” date.
