How I Turned Grok Bot into My Financial Advisor (Full Guide)
What you need
- Connected apps
- Either a Google Sheet of holdings on the shared computer, or Truthifi, a read-only MCP server covering brokerages, banks, retirement accounts and crypto exchanges.
- Routines
- A weekday-morning routine.
- Skills
- The briefing, saved as a skill once the output was right.
What prompted it
Checking the portfolio by hand every morning (what moved, what’s coming, what needs fixing) used up the first hour of the day.
What Grok Bot did
- Created a bot named Personal CFO with nothing but the portfolio job.
- Connected the holdings: a Google Sheet with asset, quantity, cost basis and target %, or Truthifi for live read-only data.
- Ran it once by hand and checked that prices were current, the weights added up to 100 and nothing was filled in from memory.
- Saved the working steps as a skill, then turned it into a routine.
- Used Test run and checked five things: fresh data, the four-section format, a source for every number, no trade recommendations, and missing data called out.
Evidence and limits
- Original post checked on X (Oct 18, 2026)
- Outcome reported by the author
- Not reproduced by anyone else yet
- Every bot on the account shares the same computer, so a brokerage session this bot opens is visible to the others. Keep access read-only.
- A test run does real work: it visits sites and calls connected tools.
- If you’re away from the app for a long stretch, Grok Bot may pause routines, so check there first if the briefing stops.
